Denial (Not the river in Egypt)

I have been denying all day today that I'm getting a cold, well how's that working for me? Not very well, made a trip to Wal-Mart I now have advil,airborne ( a friend swears by it) and nightime cold medication in my system oh and tissue with lotion. I went to a flea market today that I have not been to in forever and now I remember why everything was way overpriced. Anyhow I have some cheap picture frames that I am going to try and glitter and jazz up for my girl's valentines gifts, I found some cute silver dove stickers in the Martha Stewart wedding stuff that I am going to hot glue on them also.If they turn out cute I'll show ya'll a pic of them.Have a blessed night and to my vapor rub dreams.....Barb

Jace pretending to drive gigi's car.This was in the garage after I took him out of his car seat and getting some trash out of my car. We now know where the horn is and how many times it can be honked in about 45 seconds.

Francophile ( It's a good thing)

Look what just came in the mail. Isn't it just the cutest throw pillow? Of course it's much cuter than in the pic. Most of you know by now that I am a francophile (no thats not a bad thing) its a person that has a strong interest or admiration for anything french. I love the food ,the history the culture. My great grandparents were from France so I guess thats where my interest began, learning a little about them and knowing I have a smigion of french in me.Well back to the pillow I love anything fleur de lis and the french bees on this fabric.The napoleon bee's may have started another collection, have a blessed and wonderful day.....Barb

Freezing Rain

This is what's happening in Arkansas right now, some parts of the state have ice storm warnings. The central part of the state where I live is under a winter weather advisory and a freezing rain advisory. The bridges and overpasses are icing over and alot of accidents. My husband and daughter are both trying to get home as traffic on the interstate is moving very slow. Yeah the garage door just opened so one of them is home. A Little Bit Of Sunshine

This is what I bought this week-end to put a smile on my face and to remind me of sunshine and warmer days. I have a bouquet sitting on my coffee table that reminds me of spring as my fireplace is going and I have been cold all day for some reason. We did manage to clean out the garage this week-end and I am done with painting the living room trim. I just took Jace home to mommy he wanted to spend one more night with papaw and gigi but I have to work tomorrow and I have to brag he can count to ten in spanish how cute is that?Have a blessed day....Barb

Best Banana Bread

This is really the name of this recipe and is the best banana bread I have ever had .

1 Cup Sugar 1 tsp. soda

1/2 Cup Oil 1/4 tsp. salt

2 Eggs 1 Cup Flour

3 Very Ripe Bananas mashed 1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts

Preheat oven to 300 degrees, mix ingredients in order given,

adding flour and nuts last. Spoon into greased loaf pan. Bake 1

hour or until done.

It also freeze's very well. We always stick it in the freezer and then cut off a slice or two heat it and add a pat of butter yummy.

With A Little White Paint......

Don't you just love paint? It can change the look of just about anything. The larger of the candlesticks I found at the goodwill store a few dollars and the smaller one at a local dollar store.They were both different colors and to unify the look I am just slapping on some white paint.I am going to try and find one more because I think it would look better with a group of three.I am putting these in my guest bathroom I have found a new shower curtain that I am going to order. and I think I am going to paint my cabinets a warm creamy color.I took the old ugly wallpaper down and put plaster on the walls and painted a dark gold and put a lighter gold over that. I also pulled up the original vinyl flooring and stained the floor.We have been in our home almost five years,it was about 20 years old and had not been updated. We love the floorplan and got a really good deal because the people that owned had already moved out of state. When the new shower curtain comes in I will post some photos. Red Toenails

This afternoon has been so relaxing, I worked until one o'clock and then my best friend and I along with a few other friends went to Olive Garden and had soup and salad. Pam my best friend and I then went and had a pedicure her french and me red.I love red toenails it makes me smile when I see them and my feet feel so smooth,its always a treat I feel like a kid in a candy shop trying to pick out a color. OPI has too many shades and I love the names of their polishes,todays color was rudolph red.Tonight its leftover beef veggie soup that I made earlier this week and hubby and I are kinda being lazy.I hope to get on the treadmill a little later and do at least 30 minutes.Hugs and smiles.....Barb

Another View

This is another view of my living room,one of my favorites. This is part of my collection of crosses, I started collecting them several years ago when we travel I always try to find a unique one and bring it home. I have a few from my birthday also and a small one that a friend brought me from Israel. I have some in my bedroom and bathrooms, and I have bought a few from kirklands. They look wonderful with my new paint color but, in this photo the color looks lighter. This wall still has room for a few more as I find them. Have a blessed day.....Barb

Hand Painted Trays

I have two of these trays that were my husband's grandmothers, on the back its has a gold sticker that says Fine Arts Studio Phila.6,PA. If anyone has any history on how old they might be and any info about the studio that would be a fun fact to know. It's kinda funny how I came to have these my mother in law was having a yard sale and told me I could come by the day before and see if there was anything I wanted. She was going to sell these, they were her mothers and had been her attic for sometime.Well I quickly picked them up along with a few other things I'll show you later. What to do?

I want to change my mantel, any suggestions? I have a large shabby mirror thats white that I bought at a yardsale. My home is french country I have been looking in magazines but for some reason seem to be stuck on what to do. The brick goes all the way up to the vaulted ceiling and we have just repainted restrained gold, my main colors are red and golds with a splash of black here and there. Also you can see some of my collection of crosses which I adore and upper right we have a ledge with aladdin lamps (gifts from my in-laws). My entertainment center I love, it has an iron fleur de lis on the top panel.So feel free to offer any suggestions.......Barb

Sunday

Today I woke up with a headache and have felt kinda blah all day, I stayed home in my pj's all day and took a long nap this afternoon. I always feel guilty for not going to church.We had a nice dinner last night to celebrate Lauren's graduation and a cake that for some reason my grandson Jace wanted to eat before dinner. My daughter Rachel's pap smear came back with a problem again she had problems and some surgery before she became pregnant with Jace, she has been told by her OB/Gyn which is also a family friend of ours that if this problem doesn't clear up she may need a hysterectomy in the future. She will be 25 soon so I hope this doesn't happen in the near future, I know she hopes one day to get remarried and have one more child. Congrats Lauren

Lauren or LK as your friends call you, today you graduate from The Paul Mitchell Academy of Cosmotology. We are so proud of you, when you started college you wanted to do something that you could be creative at well you found your calling. You amaze me every day with your zest for life and your positive attitude you truly care about people and what happens in the world.You are a beautiful person inside and out and as your mom I feel so privileged that God choose me to be your parent. As your start your big girl life (as we like to say) its hard for me to realize you are all grown up and will be moving out to your first apartment in a few months with one of your friends. I know we will have fun picking out decor for your apartment but it feels like a few days ago you were my sweet baby girl in diapers. Have a wonderful day as we celebrate your graduation today. My Day

This is what I have been doing today, I work 3 to 4 days a week and try to pick up around the house all week but Friday's is when I get most of my household chores done and also when I go and try to find me a cheap treasure at one of the local thrift stores ,my mom called this morning and said she was boxing up some of her old things for me to look at to see if I want anything. Of course I do when I pick her up for church sunday she will give them to me so I will show you all next week what was in the box.Also tomorrow is a special day and I'll let ya'll in on why tomorrow.Take care and have a wonderful friday.......Barb

My Other Sweetheart

I just had to share this photo of my other sweetheart besides my hubby.This little guy stole my heart over two years ago he makes me smile and laugh he has brought so much joy to our lives.He is my friday night date every week and we always have fun and I love it when he calls me gigi. This photo was taken at the Arkansas Childrens Hospital breakfast with santa, if you don't know about the hospital it is one of the best childrens hospitals in the world and has patients from all over the United States,You can check it out on their website to learn more about it. Also thank God all the passengers survived the Hudson river crash today.

I am showing you one of my treasures that I have had a long time. My mom gave this to me years ago,when her and my father got married in 1960 this was their first set of everyday dishes. The name of this pattern is Royal China Bucks County.I remember as a child whenever she put this platter out in the kitchen it would mean she was making fudge..yum. This was always a special treat for us kids, this is the only piece left she doesn't know what happened to the rest which is sad because I love this pattern so much. It reminds me of home and family and of course fudge. Blessings..........Barb

Love/Hate

Do you have a love/hate relationship? Well meet mine, he knows how to give me a guilt trip. I had some minor knee surgery last summer and couldn't exercise for months, per doctor orders. Yes thats right my doctor said no exercise......and of course I said no problem. I have always exercised but I am not one of those people that will tell you I enjoy it because that would be a big lie. Well then summer turns into fall and around that time I can start back but my excuse its getting close to the holidays and I am soooo busy well a few pounds later ( 12 to be exact) time to get back on Mr.Treadmill. The love part comes when I'm finished for the day ! On another note my brother checked out my blog today and was amazed I am in the 21st century he has a degree in computer something or the other so he's so smart about computers so watch out lil brother I may become a computer whiz (LOL) don't worry your jobs safe. My Cute Silver Trays

I completed this project of some old silver trays that I have had forever with a little blackboard paint some cute french country black and white plaid ribbon, new dining room decor very cheap. Very fast, easy and oh so cute. My daughter is trying to steal these for her house so I must start searching my local goodwill and flea markets for some cheap silver trays. Of course I saw this on another talented bloggers site and knew I had do this for my dining room. Also I have to show your my newest little find a shabby tin french looking vase that I bought for a few dollars I think it will find a home on my coffeetable with some fresh flowers. Now its off to the dreaded treadmill to walk take care.............Barb

Today 0ur sunday school lesson on Joshua 2:1-4 ,12-14 and one of the questions was how will 2009 turn out? In the face of uncertainty it's up to each of us to decide whom to trust. Well that got me thinking....I am human and make my share of daily mistakes but for 2009 Christ is whom I need to trust and try each day to be a better person . Because right at this moment I am dealing with a cranky toddler (Rachel had to run to the hospital to visit a friend) and this is testing me. Have a wonderful day. Pink Saturday

I am amazed at how talented you ladies all are, and how you can find so many beautiful treasures to show on pink Saturday every week.I love the color pink it one of my fav colors but I don't seem to have much of it in my home.I have a french country,tuscan theme more to my home alot of golds,yellows,reds and greens.I hope to be able to share some photos soon as we just painted the living room restrained gold from SW and I am staining the concrete floor a tuscan color.My photo if its working right is my grandson Jace at a Little Rock Police Department party (husband is an officer) where they had a snow village set up if you look very close you can see some pink lights on the trees I swear,and of course he has the rosy pink cheeks all the time.May you all have a blessed day and the lord keep you safe.

Happy Friday to all,hope you had a wonderful week.Today I am cleaning my home, doing laundry and trying to decide what to cook.I have been reading some of your blogs about family photos I wish I could add one but I am waiting for my youngest daughter to help me.If you don't know yet I don't know how to download and post photos yet.I got my first digital camera for christmas and learning to use it .It reminds me of the saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks but this 47 year old is learning new tricks.I will pick up my grandson this afternoon from his school he always spends Friday night with me, so I am off to the store to pick up more milk and some extra snacks for him.

Bargains

I am so happy I have been wanting some Martha Stewart glitter but being the cheap bargain hunter that I am I just kept visiting it every time I went to Walmart and leaving without it.Well guess what? I was walking by a shopping cart in the craft department and they has some christmas items in it for 50% off. My eyes could not believe what I saw Martha Stewart glitter (frosty gingerbread pack and winter snows and antique silver) well I was in heaven because this southern girl loves her glitter and bargains. Now to come up with some cute craft projects if you have any ideals please feel free to share them with me.

Long Day

Today was a crazy,busy day at work. I was off work alot the last couple of weeks for the holidays and did not want to go back.Why oh why was I not born wealthy, (LOL). My neck and shoulders have been aching for three days now can ,we say tension and stress not to mention we pulled the carpet up in the living room and I am staining the concrete and its hard work and I sure thats not helping my sore neck.On another note I feel God is working on a prayer I have been praying about I will explain in future posts. I just finished glittering a project and I am proud how it turned out hopefully I can show a photo when I learn how to jazz up my blog.
