Don't Commit Crepe Murder

This afternoon we worked in our yard and I pruned my crepe myrtle's so this is how they will look this summer, but it seems to me (and heaven forbid if you do this) alot of our neighbors commit what I and Southern Living calls crepe murder. Why they do it I don't know, my best friend commits crepe murder (gasp) I've tried to talk her out of it, o.k. thats out of my system. I cleaned out a few flower beds and my daylilies have their little heads popped up and filled up bird feeders also today. I know we will have some more cold days we always have a few like this to make us have spring fever.May you all have a blessed and wonderful day.....Barb

Hi Barb... we too did a little bit of garden work today, we pruned some our trees and shrugs, but spring is still a long way away.... I love Crape Myrtle Trees they're so gorgeous, but they don't grow here, so enjoy its beauty! And please promise to show more pics… ;)

Have a lovely week

I love the crepe myrtle trees that grow in the south and I tried to grow one here in NY, but it's too cold here :-(

Have a good week!

I always think of "crepe murder" too after reading that term in Southern Living years ago. Why cut them back to stumps? They won't bloom that way. The key is to remember that they will probably get bigger than you think and you have to pick the right one.

Of course, I have two right now that are too big. Oh well. We will live with them.
