Lauren is doing really well she has a doctor's appointment friday so we are hoping the back brace will come off,she has been able to walk on her foot the last few days and hopes to return to work after this week. She will be moving in with us for a while since she has used all her savings being off work for 9 weeks and I'm kinda excited about it. We adore her boyfriend and I am hoping he is the one, time will tell. My mom is back in the hospital in CCU not doing well, she is having breathing problems and not sure yet if its heart or lung issues, I hope to know more tomorrow. Lauren's doing well, she's feeling better every day. She's getting bored and has been reading and watching lots of movies, she hopes in a few more weeks she can go back to work but we will see what the doctor says next week and it depends on when she can walk on her foot and gets the back brace off. Hope to be back soon, our youngest daughter had an accident over a week ago. She fell 15 feet into some razorwire chasing her cat that got away. She has a fractured vertabrae and alot of stitches from some very deep cuts, we are very thankful she's alive after seeing where she fell.In about another month she should be able to go back to work, I am very thankful for her boyfriend he has been so much help during all this and has helped take such good care of her....Barb

I found when we traveled to the carribean a while back this was called a purple heart plant and that I had some that a neighbor gave me last year, it has been very easy to grow and loves our hot humid summers.It's very pretty and some have some flowers on it soon makes me feel that I have a piece of the carribean with me.....Barb

I had a wonderful day, my best friend came by around 8:00 this morning and brought me starbucks, scones and flowers and my hubby and the girls and all my sweet friends have made it a wonderful day. Next weekend four of my girlfriends are taking me to one of their lakehouses in Hot Springs and we are having a spa day and hanging out at the lake for the weekend.Who knew turning 50 would be so fun....Barb

Daydreaming today, wish I was here feeling the sand between my toes and sitting in the warm saltwater. My mom is doing ok, feeling some better just taking it one day at a time. She meets with the oncologist again next week, I have had a great day with Gage today he is 6 months old and so sweet. The surgery went well, the lymph node was malignant and the size of a baseball, it will be monday before we have test results and know what else to expect, yesterday friday after she came home from dialysis my dad had to call 911 and have an ambulance come and take her to the hospital, he went to get her something to drink and found her not breathing. She is now in ICU at one of the local hospitals and they think she had a heart attack and an infection,they are doing more tests today, they have very limited visiting hours so I have been going back and forth to the hospital. As of right now I don't know what to expect and will try to let you know soon whats going on....Barb

Went to surgeon with my mom this afternoon they will be removing lump and lymph node(s) soon and then be able to stage and let us know if any more treatment is needed. Her oncologist and doctor's do not think she is a candidate for chemo because of all her other health issues and her veins are in such bad shape so I'm not sure what her options would be at this point. Even with all this going on God has blessed me and answered a prayer and filled me with gratitude and wonderful family and friends....Barb

Today at oncologist they did lab work and they scheduled my mom's PET scan for thursday morning, the doctor said it would be sometime next week before he would be ready to see her again and have a diagnosis....Barb

Some of my photo's from my recent trip to Belize City, the bridge is the swing bridge the only functioning manually operated bridge still in existence, the photo with the sailboats is called pier city and the Fort George lighthouse. I love,love,love history and our tour guide while we were there was a very educated young man named Dale and was a wealth of knowledge on the history of Belize City. Today it has been snowing off and on all day, school was closed so the boys came over and we went outside for a little while. Gage was so bundled up in his snowsuit he couldn't move and Jace was making snow angels afterwards we came in and had warm chocolate chip cookies,I ate one too many but I'll work it off at the gym tomorrow....Barb

What I Know!

My mom has breast cancer, it's called squamous cell carcinoma breast cancer and has some lymph node involvement. This is a rare type of breast cancer and is usually a type of skin cancer, she has an appointment with the oncologist Feb.22nd and then they will do a PET scan to see if it has spread any where else in the body, so at this point not sure how good or bad it is. She is in denial about all her health issues right now so it's very rough to try and talk to her now and other family members that don't want to help but are quick to point out criticism. Sorry, but that felt good to say that!...Barb

My mom is not doing well and on top of all her other medical problems she may have breast cancer, I will know for sure monday. She has been talking to me about what to do if this is bad and she doesn't have long, her body is just wearing out and she's been having a lot of pain so I am just praying for God's will, whatever that may be....Barb

Tonight our local town had spooky city,they had the downtown square blocked and all the stores had candy or treats so the kids could trick or treat safely. They had a stage where the kids could stop and tell how old they were and and about their costumes which Jace couldn't wait to do!

Hey guys, wow life is busy! Gage will be a month old this week and the road from my house to his house has stayed very well traveled. I went to Jace's pre-K class friday and gave a talk on healthy teeth and brushing and all his classmates were so cute, Lauren has found an apartment and will be moving out soon so we are looking for cheap deals for her new place and all her stuff packed in my garage will be gone.My husband and I have a trip planned to Belize and Roatan after the holidays and I am so looking forward to getting away and snorkeling, exploring and a tall tropical fruity drink. We are getting ready to have new software updates installed at work so I am studying to learn as much as I can about it so I can teach everyone at work how to use it and also a trip to St.Louis the weekend before thanksgiving to take a class for work.Whew! Thats a piece of my crazy life right now hope to have some pics for you soon....Barb

We are all doing fine just tired, I am thankful Rachel only lives about 10 minutes from me so its easy to run back and forth. I forgot how tiring a newborn is and the new parents are really tired he's had his days and nights mixed up which always seems to happen with newborns. I spent the first three nights with them and took off work this week to take Jace to school and cook and clean at Rachel's, we took Gage to his first doctor visit today and he's gained 3 ounces and looks great. Jace is doing very well with him and is very protective, he wakes up around 11:00 PM and wants to stay awake until 4:00 AM so praying this won't last much longer....Barb

Gage Carter was born September 20th, at 9:55 AM weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Rachel did great with her c-section and mommy,daddy big brother Jace and Gage are all doing great. They came home from the hospital yesterday and I am staying with them the next few days and I am off next week so I can take Jace to school and help Rachel during the day while Jonathan works, we are all over the moon with the new addition to our family....Barb

I may not be posting much the next few weeks, Rachel was put on bed rest yesterday until monday when Gage will be born, so I am doing the errands she had planned this weekend and one of my dear friends son passed away from his battle with cancer and visitation was tonight and the funeral is tomorrow. He was only 28 years old and I remember being at the hospital when he was born, so I have been very emotional today with all this going on. I will try and post after Gage's birth and let you see how cute I know he's going to be, just say a prayer for mom and baby for a easy healthy birth....Barb

Happy Labor day, in the United States it is a federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September and an extra day off work for many people. It always marks the end of summer for us even if the temp's outside are still hot, we celebrated this weekend with barbecue and family which included Rachel's baby shower, my husbands 50th birthday and seeing some family and friends that we had not seen for awhile. My husband doesn't like for me to blog about him but I will say happy birthday again and I love you....Barb

One of Rachel's friends hosted a baby shower at my house today, and baby to be Gage has some of the cutest stuff ever. Life has been crazy busy around here, I'm trying to squeeze in lot's of things before September 20th (that's when Rachel's c-section is scheduled) because I know I will be very busy helping her, this pic was a from a quick trip in Chicago. Today at lunch a man at a table behind us slumped over and was unconscious, at first I thought he was just feeling ill and then my friend said no, we then jumped up and got him on the floor and found out he had a pulse, I'll spare all the details but when the paramedics arrived he became semi-conscious and we think he had a heart attack, hopefully he's doing ok because everything happened so fast we have no clue to his name.

My baby girl Lauren had her 22nd birthday this week, I don't know how I became the mother of a 22 & 26 year old, because I don't feel any older than that most days! We celebrated with pizza and strawberry cake and of course Jace had to help Aunt Lauren blow out her candles on her cake. Much needed rain thursday afternoon, standing in the door of my office building, we have had burn bans and very hot and dry conditions so I was very happy to see some rain. Over the treeline is the Arkansas Heart Hospital and on many days we watch them landing their helicopter bringing in a seriously ill patient.

My mom's surgery went better than the doctor or we expected and she is home know. In about 3 to 6 weeks they should be able to use this port for dialysis and take out the temp port. Talk to you guys soon....Barb

Sorry I haven't posted, we have had a trial run to the hospital already with this little guy! He's not due until the middle of September so he need's to stay put for a little bit longer. My mom is having some surgery this week with hopefully only an overnight hospital stay, life has been certainly busy around here. We booked a vacation for after the first of the year to the carribean so I will tell you more about that later....Barb

My mom has not been doing well this week, she has felt really bad after her dialysis treatments and her blood pressure has been dropping really low. She had a scan today to check and see if she can have a permanent port for dialysis and it will be next week before we know when she meets with the doctor. I honestly don't know how much more her body can take, most days I'm doing ok but today has been stressful for me just keep us in your thoughts and prayers....Barb

Well it's been a long week around here, it's been very hot which makes it very hard to spend much time outdoors which has shortened my outdoor exercise routine. Coming home from work and not have Mittens greet me has been hard and I still find myself calling and looking for her so I guess that will take a while to get use too. My mom has had an ok week she has been able to do some things around her house which makes her feel better, Rachel had a wreck and I am thankful God was watching out for her and the baby because it could have been very bad. Her SUV was towed to the autobody shop last night so she's waiting to see how much damage was done. Jace and I went to see Toy Story 3 today and he loved it and in a while I am going over to Rachel's house so we can start getting the baby's room ready.Lauren started a new job at a hair salon about 3 weeks ago and is loving it and building up her client base....Barb

My sweet cat Mittens died today, she got really sick today and we took her to the emergency vet and there was nothing they could do she was 16 years old and her organs had shut down. She had her pink blanket and lots of kisses from us before she went,our sweet Princess Mitonia is now chasing butterflies in heaven and I have cried all afternoon but I know she's resting in peace....Barb

Rachel has decided on the color's for Gage's room, brown and blue. We found the crib bedding above on ebay and I am helping her plan the nursery around it. The bedroom that will be his room is painted brown already, and we have an old chest that I am going to redo to store his clothes in. I have painted an art piece for his room since I did one for Jace's room, they are whimsical and inspired from art that was out of Rachel's budget.I'll post more on his room later when we put up the crib and decorating....Barb
